Tracy came wanting to better his previous bear hunts, and he did exactly that on the second morning of his hunt great bear for a great bear for a great hunter.
Well Larry certainly got us off on the right foot with this great black, he said that" there was no ground shrinkage on this one" and can you believe this is a sow!!
Levi had seen a big black and a brown on a oil pipe line we had put up some trail cameras to pattern the big black. The first time he hunted the black he got busted. A couple days later this fatheaded brown give Levi the perfect bow shot, the bear took a step just as Levi released his arrow. There was no blood trail for the first 70 yards then we found what we were looking for, blood forty yards later a high five, what a beautiful bear. Levi want trade for that black now?
After a thousand yard stalk and a 55yard shot All Mike could say when he walked up to his secound bear was (oh my God oh my, dude oh my, dude you can't belive this oh my! you have to be kidding me oh my!) What a perfect way to end a spot and stalk hunt with a 450 lb black.
When Mike and his friends came to hunt bears with us they were a little skeptical after their last guided bear hunt, it didn't take long for the skepticism to go away after taking this fantastic 350lb black . A two hundred and fifty yard stalk and a 165 yard shot the trophy was Mike's .
Vinie on the fourth day of a five day hunt joins the big bear club with this monster. Check out the brown tips on the ears .
Vinie put a 650 yard stalk on this great black, as he crested the hill the bear was only seventy yards away. Vinie didn't make any mistakes he had his first Alberta black bear on the ground.
Chris brought his bow for his spot and stalk Alberta black bear hunt and he tagged this guy with a great shot after a bit of stalking within range. A very good black bear for his trophy. His second bear was a bit luckier but ended up wounded. The shot that wasn't a fatal shot and the bear kept moving. No amount of tracking could get the guide back onto this monster trophy.
Steve took time from his Ministry to hunt a bear at my camp. HIs work delayed him from arriving on time so 2 days is all we had. His first day of his spot and stalk hunt he nailed this guy. A short run by the bear and it was on the ground for keeps. As he called it, "The bear bathroom trail", had a pile of scat every 30 feet, often closer together. A smorg for bears. Steve is one of the best people I have ever guided.
What a great guy. Fernando came to camp with a smile and left with a smile. A bit of finesse on this bear and he made no mistake about his chance for a trophy black bear. His shot hit the bear dead on in the shoulders and his trophy bear hit the ground. A few photos later and the bear was loaded and taken to camp for skinning and freezing. Again, another spot and stalk for the best of bear hunting.
Guiding Mike was about as easy as it gets. Put him on a spot and stalk for a black bear and he takes this monster of near 450 pounds of spring bear. Put him on another spot and he nails another good bear. "Nothing to this bear hunting up here", he says as he admires his second bear even though this one took him most of a day of sitting. 2 great bear and a great guy to share a day of hunting with.
Perhaps the largest bear this spring, over 450 pounds which is always huge for any spring bear after hibernation. Mike and his guide made their successful stalk and acquired a position that allowed the perfect shot. Spot and stalk hunts, what can anyone say if they want this size of bear! What a great trophy for anyone and our hunter added this guy to his first for a successful 2 bear hunt.
They came together, they hunted together and they each got their 2 bears. Here is Elijah with his first bear and a fun guy to have in camp. Like nearly all hunters, Elijah tagged both his bears along with the other members of that early spring spot and stalk black bear hunt. Congratulations Elijah on your bears and a big thanks from nearly everyone in camp to your assistance in teaching so many how to work cell phones. lol.
John, another pleasant hunter to have in camp. These kind of people in his group really make the outfitter and guides and cook enjoy what they do. He wanted a spot and stalk hunt for him and his son and they were both successful along with all the others this spring. A fantastic season with many large bears and great hunters to have in camp. Thanks John and Elijah for choosing my camp to harvest your black bears.
Another brown bear made his mistake. The traditional, most exciting, spot and stalk hunting got us close enough for my hunter to make his shot. Brett nailed this guy dead on through the lungs. After about 75 yards the bear was down. Upon searching this 350 Alberta brown bear was found piled up in thick dwarf spruce. His second bear and another good size for a spring spot and stalk black bear hunt.
Always spot and stalk hunt if you want the 450 pound black bears. This guy fooled hunters for over 3 years but not this spring. A very cold and windy day but Brett stuck it out in a tree stand until he could not take it any more. About to get down he spied this bruin nearly 20 yards away. The bear dropped in it's tracks. We needed to hook him to the truck to drag him out of the trench. Next a 300 plus brown bear.
Vinnie's first bear was okay but not what he was looking for. His second, this guy can just be called, "Another Monster Bear". Whow. All non baited "spot and stalk", hunts and always great hunts with large black bears. Congratulations on such a trophy. Another 400 pound plus black bear trophy. Each member of their group took home two bear as is nearly always the case on these spot and stalk hunts.
Mike took a bull moose the first day of his hunt then decided to go for a bear. He missed the first brown bear we saw but did not miss this second bear. In a second day of hunting he took this mid sized brown color phase of the black bear species. One shot on his moose and one shot on this guy. Two trophies in two days of hunting.
Willie first took this bear then went on to harvest his velvet mule deer on his early September hunt this season. Single shots on both animals and he had two trophies to take home. His hunt ended in just a couple days and he wished he had held off so he had more hunting time while at our camp. So, he waited in camp while his deer meat was cut and froze at the butchers.
Terry had never done a guided hunt before and he wasn't sure what to expect. The hunt certainly surpassed his expectations. Seeing close to twenty bears, deer and moose really made it a great five days.
Nate, hunting at 12 years of age and he took home two bears. His first with a rifle and his second he pocked 3 arrows into this bear at 22 yards hitting the bear in the spine and neck bone. The bear dropped from his first arrow, the others arrows were reassurance of his bear on the ground. Fantastic shooting. What a pleasure to have Nate in camp. He is a great hunter and will be greater in the years to come.
